Ever Upward

Please take your time looking around. Join our Discord and meet our small cozy writing family.

We operate a bit differently than other groups you may have written in before. Instead of “rules” we have “Terms of Membership” which have been thoughtfully modernized. Instead of “wanted ads” we have grouped together plots ads, character wanteds ads, businesses, locations and social groups created by our community all in one place as “story hooks” so writers can see what already exists in one easy location. These are considered ‘canon’ and so they are grouped together with our lore book we will refer to as our encyclopedia. This lore encyclopedia is pre-researched material and AU writeups to reduce the amount of researched needed to get started in a Historical Play-by-Post roleplay board.

Brooklyn

An independent city across the East River, accessible only by ferry. Middle-class tradesmen, skilled workers, and lower-class laborers make up most of the population, along with a growing number of professionals and merchants. Wealthier families reside in neighborhoods like Clinton Hill and Brooklyn Heights. Shipbuilding, brewing, and local manufacturing support the economy. No bridge yet connects it to Manhattan.

Scribbles in the Margins
This board is a place where pending characters can write and flesh out their characters with willing participants. This board is NOT considered Canon due to characters not being fully Apped and approved. However, upon approval, the thread can be requested to move to a main board after staff has read it and makes any notations that cannot further be used. If the thread is outside of lore entirely, it may be rejected as canon.

Pure Fiction New

Pure Fiction is a place where new and existing members can test out new characters, or get started writing early before applications are fully processed. These threads are not considered canon and do not contribute to activity points nor general activity.
Once all involved character applications are all approved, Pure Fiction can be requested for staff review to be moved to the main forums to become canon. Not all Pure Fiction makes it to canon, as the thread must follow lore and site rules.
